Wives, Mothers & Grandmothers

We are more than the roles you have assigned us.

This series of watercolours is intended as a statement of female empowerment, challenging the idea that women become less visible, or less sensual, as they grow older.
I have noticed that many of my female friends, from a certain age onwards, change their profile pictures on social media and no longer show themselves. This quiet disappearance made me reflect on how easily women can become invisible behind the roles society assigns to them.
In these paintings, I portray women in private, intimate moments, not as objects of desire for the viewer, but as individuals with their own bodies, desires and sexuality.
